If you want a major key example to the main issue in our society, then this trial is it. We can talk about racism, discrimination, injustice & everything that revolves around these topics all day, but what about mental health? You know that subject that our society (including us) does its BEST to ignore. It has been shown over, & over, & over again how trauma (generational & childhood included) needs more attention than it has ever been given. Generational trauma starts with our parents, then their parents & so on. It is a cycle that has gone on for forever and a day. Yet, it is still ignored. The common fear of living a life where we are scared of the unknown (due to repeated experiences that we may have physically been part of) effects us because we either heard about it, witnessed it, or simply was born in to it. Childhood trauma is just as potent because as adults we forget that it is our responsibility to take care of that trauma. Oh yea, I can speak on this because I am a mental health warrior who has hit the lowest level of mental illness & got damn ..look at me now. The work is one hell of a journey but I promise that the rewards are indescribable. One of the rewards is being able to identify mental health as the answer to all of the questions that we ask ourselves as adults.
Funny thing is, most if not all of inequality experiences is because we are too uninterested in educating ourselves. It’s boring ..it’s not “what’s up”. It’s not poppin on social media, it’s not the latest trending topic or fashion, it’s not sexy, it’s not attractive. But yet we are quick to label ourselves as a sapiosexual. Stop it. As a society we have failed to push the limits of educating ourselves CONTINOUSLY. This is not about what we learn in school but about what we learn in life. In school if an assignment is due by a certain date we know the outcome if we don’t get it done. Fail & repeat or just fail & forget. But if a life assignment is given to gain & remain in control of our mental health for the betterment of not just society, but for the many generations to come, we just rather take the L for that one. Failure is the common outcome for that assignment. Highly valid for those who vow to “protect & serve”. To protect another you must first understand who you are protecting. My bad ..you must OVERstand who you are protecting. Because the UNDERstanding has not worked. To serve another you must also first OVERstand who or where you are serving. It’s just that simple ..yet too complicated for us to master. Tough.
